Muawiya’s (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) followers

Muawiya’s (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) followers are known as Muawiyeen. They follow a doctrine known as ‘Muawism’ in which they single out Muawiya (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) for over-praise. They identify themselves as defenders and slaves of Muawiya (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ). To justify their strange behaviour, they give references from Quran and Ahadith about generalized praise of Sahabah, and taking it as a cover, they write books, encomiums, conduct seminars, take out processions raising slogans and singing Muawiya’s (رضئ اللہ تعالی عنہ) praise to an extent of his worship.
